Mumbai : Sundar is a short film that speaks for 1000s of closeted lives. It is a film based on the challenges Jayu faces, just because he likes to cross dress.
In India, taboos are soaring on a daily basis and feelings are trashed & made to choke. Cross-dressing is one of those taboos and is also one of the common urges which is trashed and made to choke. It’s considered to be as weird-it’s the ‘weird’ truth of just being different. But one still has to live. And most of the times they live closeted. If we say, everyone has the right to live life the way they want, then why not let EVERYONE live the way they want?
This film bluntly questions the society, in which even well educated people behave like illiterate, and elders’ acts irresponsible. If a naive girl Shradha finds beauty in Jayu’s personality, what makes the rest of them contempt him? Whom should we follow? A 50 year old with an experienced mind or a 10 year old with naive heart and developing mind?
Sundar is a Dark Stories Production, makers of the critically acclaimed and award winning film- Ektya Bhinti (Lonely Walls).
